Spanish music, compared to the German and Austrian music commonly encountered by music learners, can be described as an unfamiliar "foreign" music. It is generally impressed with the flamenco style of "passion, mystery, roughness, and freedom". In fact, the uniqueness and diversity of Spanish music far surpasses its stereotype. Its piano music is even more famous for its gorgeousness and splendor, especially at the end of the nineteenth century, It began to flourish, especially at the end of the nineteenth century, and created an unprecedented golden age. Countless outstanding composers and classical masterpieces are a field of great research value.
This research takes the Spanish composer Enrique Granados' s (1867-1916) piano work "Goyescas" (1911) as the study object, and selects the first three pieces "Los Requiebros", "Coloquio en la Reja", and "El Fandango de Candil " to analyze, divided into six chapters: Chapter 1 is an introduction, briefly explaining the research motive, purpose and the scope; Chapter 2 describes the life and musical style of Granados, and shows the influencing factors of his musical style from the composer' s own perspective; Chapter 3 explores the creative background of "Goyescas" from the painter Goya' s (1746-1828) life and his representation of the Spanish spirit; Chapter 4 is the analysis and research of the first three pieces of this work; Chapter 5 focuses on the interpretation of this music score (Madrid: Union Musical Ediciones, 1991), sorting out the terminology marks and introduce the special techniques; Chapter 6 is a conclusion, summarizing the main points of this full paper.
Enrique Granados is one of the most representative composer and pianist of Spanish music, and “Goyescas” is his greatest masterpiece. It combines romance and Spanish style with multiple values of literatures and arts, attracting countless music scholars from all over the world. It is also an indispensable part of exploring Spanish piano music.
