With the diffusion of mobile technology, mobile information service is attracting
people attention and in certain cases it has even been substituted for other
traditional information sources. Besides, when people become more experienced, their information needs will also be different. Not only the sophisticated technology needed to be applied, but also the mobile medical applications should take user-centered contents into account.
In order to understand the current provision of mobile medical information services, content analysis is used to observe 10 sampled mobile medical applications. To understand users' needs with mobile medical applications, an Internet questionnaire survey is applied to question 386 Taiwanese people who currently live in Taiwan.
The study found that the provided information services of medical mobile applications both in information content and information functions are shortage. Second, users are at medium or high levels of requirements for these two dimensions. Apparently, there is still disparity between users' needs and the information provision of medical mobile applications. We suggest that it is necessary for medical mobile applications to enhance the provision of both: all included items of "information functions" and "information contents".
