臺灣海峽位於臺灣與中國大陸之間,連接東海與南海,為一個狹長通道,海底地形複雜,整體呈現東北-西南走向。
近年來對臺灣海峽的觀測愈來愈多,對於其水文流況也愈來愈清楚,臺灣海峽模式已經與觀測資料作了許多驗證,其結果相當一致,足以掌握湧升現象,可以用來研究湧升流之季節與年際變化。
本研究討論臺灣海峽的三個湧升流區域,分別是位於澎湖群島北邊與南邊以及海峽西北沿岸,發生湧升時間皆是在四月至八月期間,主要的產生機制皆是地形淺化與西南季風。
在澎湖群島北邊與南邊湧升流強度相近,表層海水溫度以2003年最低,2001年最高;而在海峽西北沿岸湧升流強度以2003年最強,2002年最弱。
The Taiwan Strait located between Taiwan and China, connects the East China Sea and South China Sea. It is a narrow passage with complicated bottom topography. The direction of the Strait is roughly northeast to southwest.
Recently, hydrological and current conditions have become clear even more because of intensive observations in the Taiwan Strait. The Taiwan Strait model used in the present research has been validated with most of the observations. Since the model resolves temporal and spatial scales of interest, we use the results to discuss the seasonal and interannual variability of the upwelling in the Taiwan Strait.
This thesis focuses on three upwelling areas, including the north and south of Penghu Islands, and the northwestern coast of the Strait. All the upwelling occurs during the period from April to August. The shoaling bottom topography and the southwestern monsoon have a significant effect on the formation of the upwelling.
The upwelling strength is about the same between the north and south of Penghu Islands, where the sea surface temperature reaches its lowest in 2003 and is the highest in 2001. The upwelling strength in the northwestern coast of the Strait is the strongest in 2003 and the weakest in 2002.
