This study was to investigate the impact of integrating digital curation into multicultural curricula on students’ attitudes towards cultural diversity and their information and communication technology (ICT) skills, as well as to assess students’ acceptance of digital curation. A quasi-experimental research design was employed, involving 106 third-year middle school students from four classes. Two classes were randomly assigned to the experimental group, while the other two served as the control group, with the introduction of digital curation as the experimental treatment. The experimental procedure lasted 10 weeks, utilizing one 45-minute multicultural class per week in each class, focusing on festival culture as the theme.
Results indicated that introducing digital curation helped cultivate students’ attitudes towards cultural diversity. Regarding ICT skills, the integration of digital curation significantly enhanced students’ abilities in “organizing and creating information” and “information communication,” although no significant impact was observed on “information collection” skills. Furthermore, students demonstrated a positive acceptance of digital curation in their learning experience, noting the playfulness of these courses, their ease of execution, and their benefits to learning. The study concluded with a discussion of the findings and presented relevant recommendations for future research and educational practice.
