The study is designed to discuss the practice and feasibility of the careerladder program for the teachers of elementary and secondary schools in termsof the document analysis ,comparative reasearch and the survey method. First,I use the document analysis method to collect the theoretical documents aboutthe career ladder program for the teacher and then synthesize these documents.Second,I analyze the theoretical points of view about the career ladder programfor the teacher form the various angles of education studies, psychology and sociology. In addition, I design pre-test questionnaires based on the presentsituation and the profession career ladder program of the teachers of elementaryand secondary schools in Taiwan area (800 teachers of elementary schools,400teachers of junior high schools,200 teachers of senior high schools,and 200teachers of vocational secondary schools) Out of 1600 questionnaires,1129questionnaires are returned -74 questionnaires are invalid while 1055 questionnairesare valid. The conclusion of the study consists of 14 items as well as 11 suggestions for teachers, administrative bodies and school authorities.
