本研究自民國81年9月至83年4月為止，在東海大學牧場進行野外實驗
，探討棲枝之分布及密度對於紅尾伯勞過冬領域面積之影響。
我在草地中插上竹竿，與草地中無竹竿之區域做比較，結果顯示實驗
竹竿區之伯勞領域範圍自防風林向草地延伸，而無竹竿之區域中，伯勞領
域受到棲枝分布之限制，領域範圍侷限在防風林，且面積顯著小於實驗竹
竿區者。此外，改變竹竿密度後，伯勞領域範圍改變，顯示棲枝密度也可
能影響其領域面積。由這兩項實驗結果可知，棲枝應是造成紅尾伯勞過冬
領域面積變異的決定因子之一。

This research was conducted on Tunghai University ranch from
September 1992 to April 1994. I planted poles upon a cattle
pasture to investigate the effects of perch distribution and
perch density on wintering territory size of brown shrikes
(Lanius cristatus).
The results show that the territories of shrikes in the
poled area stretch across the pasture from windbreak,while those
in the area without pole upon pasture are constrained by perch
distribution and significantly smaller in size than those of the
poled area. After manipulating perch density and the distance of
perches, I find that these two aspects may influence territory
size. Therefore, this study suggests that perches are one of the
important factors which cause territory size variation in
wintering brown shrikes.
