The COVID-19 pandemic required societies and economies worldwide to adapt rapidly to sustain modern operations. Consequently, remote work experienced a resurgence, emerging as a critical work model that allowed businesses to maintain performance while complying with necessary health measures. While remote work offered a viable alternative, it required significant adjustments in how employees approached their work and professional goals. Reduced social interactions and increased reliance on technology presented challenges for many workers.
This study examines the impact of the transition to remote work on employees in the Honduran call center industry—a sector that employs a substantial portion of the population and faced notable difficulties adapting to the abrupt shift. Specifically, the study explores the relationship between remote work and employees' organizational commitment and investigates whether career plateau moderates this relationship.
The research focused on a call center located in Honduras, with a sample of 181 employees participating via an online survey to achieve the target sample size. The findings aim to provide valuable insights for managers and employers in Honduras to better support their employees and enhance working conditions.
