  • As corporations become increasingly globalized, and technology evolves at an exponential rate, there is a common trait demanded in the modern workplace: spontaneous learning. Individuals who can adapt and master new situations, technology, and cultures will succeed in their careers, while personalities which struggle with rapid changes and demands will become obsolete. Work consumes many people’s lives; it is intrinsically linked to their psychological well-being. If one struggles in the workplace, it will have profound effects on their mental state. Thus, it is increasingly important when analyzing the factors which affect one’s workplace well-being, to examine the link between an individual’s ability to adapt to new cultures and experiences and their success at work. Social interaction anxiety significantly affects an individual’s workplace experience, and thus their workplace well-being. A measure of Cultural Intelligence and Openness to Experience Personality will help us understand the relationship between social interaction anxiety and workplace well-being. Based on theoretical research, this study tested 3 hypotheses by collecting data using convenient sampling from overseas Koreans aged 20 to 50 and analyzing the data using SPSS. This study can help employers anticipate the needs of their employees and develop openness to experience personality to prevent struggles with anxiety in the workplace. Moreover, it can help employees deal with the demands of the workplace, develop a good social relationship with colleagues, and learn positive experience.
