The purpose of this study is to understand the process and impact of unmarried women’s getting out of suffered relationship by narrative study. It’s expected to realize their unique experiences, their feeling and useful factors which helped them.
The author used half-structured questioner and talk to participant, know their life stories, and writing their stories. Later, each narration was transcribed and then was analyzed under the “holistic-content” narrative approach.
It is discovered that two participants share identical background factors as follows, revealed in the narrative data: (1) rethinking of interrelationship with person, (2) the position of intimacy attachment in life.
Moreover, the useful factors to participants including: (1) formal support system, like police, psychotherapist, (2) informal support system, like family and friends. In this study, unmarried women more hard to use formal support system. They used it but not work, so they turn to informal support system to get support and help.
Based on the findings above, the study also discussed possible research direction, like how psychotherapy can help useful, might be an important issue.
