In Taiwan, there have not been many studies focusing on feminine writing and female image in early American literature. This study conducts textual analysis and semi-structured interview to analyze the depiction of female image in Anne Bradstreet‘s Poetry. Results show that readers with different backgrounds make significantly different responses. Moreover, we find Bradstreet takes a thoughtful way at the prevailing attitudes of her day, in which women are not considered equals to men. Bradstreet is proud to be a poet and does not consider it sinful to undertake such an endeavor. The researcher believes that the results of this study will be useful to the female literary studies in the future and it can also help other researchers and readers to view literary texts from a new perspective of female writing.
