本研究主要探討的是關於1992年台韓斷交後，韓國平面媒體針對臺灣所報導出的臺灣新聞報導研究分析。本研究的研究方法利用語料庫語言學分析(corpus linguistics)為背景，大量文本數據資料係新興科學領域中一，屬於計算語言學分析，它可以更深入理解資料。本研究可從韓國的報紙「京鄉日報」資料之上，時間橫跨臺韓斷交當年1992年1月1日起至2012年12月31日止。本研究試圖瞭解韓國主流新聞媒體如何框架臺灣認知。同時，從語料中分析出「臺灣」被使用的脈絡，關注韓國媒體在於臺灣國家形象（national image）相關報導上所呈現的內容。本研究以政治、經濟、文化、社會等四大類目為分類資料，而分析出個類目上「臺灣」此關鍵字實際使用的方法與脈絡，並進一步研究如何韓國社會中如何被生產定義。研究結果發現，其20年間韓國對臺灣在體育方面最多關注。政治與經濟方面韓國當作臺灣係在中國市場上競爭對手。但社會方面韓國一直關注臺灣的社會發展情形為參考韓國內部情況。文化方面的論述常提到在臺灣產生之韓流現象。

This study presents a statistical analysis of the perception of Taiwan as published in Korean Newspaper articles from 2012, twenty years after the severance of diplomatic ties between South Korea and Taiwan in 1992. The newspaper that was analyzed for this study is The Kyunghyang Shinmun, leading daily newspaper of South Korea, known for its conservatism and progressivism. This study also accompanies a detailed analysis of Taiwan and Korea through related editorials and feature articles. A corpus linguistics was carried out in this study and, with the articles being arranged using “Taiwan” as a keyword. The academic significance of this study is reflected in the newly defined perceptions of Taiwan in South Korea after their severance of diplomatic ties.
