全球資訊網如同一個無遠弗屆的知識庫-以多媒體的方式生動的呈現網頁內容;以鏈結(Hyperlink)聯繫全球各地網站成為一個複雜的知識系統。全球資訊網多樣及豐富的內容,提供了編寫書本內容的另一種選擇。
然而單純的使用全球資訊網會因為下列的缺點而減低其適用及可行性:1. 網頁顯示緩慢降低讀者瀏覽興趣、2. 非循序式的鏈結將直接造成讀者認知負載(cognitive overhead)與瀏覽迷失(disorientation)、3. 網站所含資訊深淺不一使得讀者需在不同網站間轉換、搜尋,造成讀者瀏覽的倦怠。因此,本論文的重點在於如何兼顧全球資訊網的優點並解決以上缺點。
在本論文中,我們提出一套個別化隨取書籍模式(Personalized Book-On-Demand Model,BOD Model)並實作一個BOD系統以解決上述問題。此系統提供作者編寫網路的邏輯式書本,我們將其命名為Web Book,並將書本分享給內部網路的讀者瀏覽。我們提出完全下載策略與預先下載策略提供讀者即時瀏覽;以階層式書本架構解決瀏覽上的迷失;以書本編輯器提供作者彙整全球資訊網的資源檔案成為Web Book。最後將Web Book上線以BOD伺服器提供讀者瀏覽,達到隨取書籍的目標。
With multimedia presentation of web page and connection of each web site by hyperlink, World Wide Web, web for short, is a widespread knowledge base. There are veriaty and plenty contents in web and these contents are good resources for author composing book.
However, there are three drawbacks when users browse the web. First, the page loading is slowly. Second, with non-sequential hyperlink, users will be cognitive overhead and become disoriented. Third, users usually switch one site to another frequently to look for more complete information. The primary concern of this paper is to offer a tool to help authors composing logical books on web, and avoid drawbacks we mention above.
We propose a personalized book-on-demand model, BOD for short, and implement a BOD system. In BOD system, author can compose logical books and share them to subnet users. We offer users almost realtime browsing by using full-download policy and preload policy; we offer a hierarchical table of content of the book to avoid disorientation; we offer an off-line book editor to help author composing book called “web book”. The off-line book editor collects related resources from web for author. Finally, we publish the web logical book on BOD server and offer user browsing in order to achieve our goal: book on demand.
