全球罹患精神疾病問題的人口自疫情以來到更高比例,精神健康已成為現代人不可忽視的威脅。當中思覺失調症「Schizophrenia」,舊名為「精神分裂症」,常因社會無差別殺/傷人事件發生後,在媒體報導中間接被污名化,導致觀眾對於思覺失調症者存有負面的刻板印象。影視作為傳遞社會意識形態與價值信念的媒介,極具社會影響力。台灣於2014年正式將「Schizophrenia」更名為「思覺失調症」,故選擇2014年後播映且獲多項大獎肯定之電視劇《我們與惡的距離》(2019)與電影《瀑布》(2021)為文本,析論影視作品中的敘事結構、真實與再現符碼是否能真實表達思覺失調症者的形象。提供觀眾正確認識、理解思覺失調症者形象之意義。藉由文本分析,依照思覺失調症四種常見類型症狀辨別,分為正性、負性、認知、情感症狀,探討作品中思覺失調症者的形象建構與詮釋,並加以深度訪談捕捉思覺失調症患者與患者家屬、專業人士之觀點,進一步分析歸納思覺失調症之再現與真實情況。從研究結果得知此兩部影視作品中思覺失調症之再現皆以正性症狀為主,如:幻覺與妄想,藉以呈現戲劇張力。當中幻覺與妄想呈現手法不同,表達病徵中不同面向的感受。而作品中思覺失調症再現以負面形象較多,卻也符合現實社會對患者的不友善與處境。透過影視再現真實患者的處境與狀態,值得閱聽人了解,同時也能作為現實患者與家屬的參考範例,並給予他們一些支持與力量。
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there has been a higher proportion of the global population suffering from mental health disorders, making mental health an undeniable threat in modern society. Among these disorders, schizophrenia, often becomes stigmatized indirectly through media reports of indiscriminate violence, leading to negative stereotypes of individuals with schizophrenia among audiences. As a medium for conveying societal ideologies and values, film and television exert significant social influence. Taiwan officially renamed schizophrenia in 2014. Therefore, this study selects the television series "The World Between Us" (2019) and the movie "The Falls" (2021), both acclaimed productions after 2014, to examine whether the narrative structure and representational codes in these works accurately depict individuals with schizophrenia, aiming to determine whether they offer viewers a meaningful understanding and recognition of individuals with schizophrenia.Through textual analysis, the study identifies and categorizes symptoms of schizophrenia into four common types: positive, negative, cognitive, and affective symptoms. It explores the construction and interpretation of the image of individuals with schizophrenia in these works. In-depth interviews with schizophrenia patient’s family member, schizophrenia patient, and professional further analyze and summarize the representation and reality of schizophrenia. The results of the study reveal that the representation of schizophrenia in these two works primarily focuses on positive symptoms, such as hallucinations and delusions, to create dramatic tension. The portrayal of hallucinations and delusions varies, expressing different feelings of the disorder. While the representation of schizophrenia in these works is predominantly negative, it reflects the unfavorable social reality faced by patients. By depicting the conditions and situations of real-life patients, these two works offer significant value in enhancing audience understanding. The portrayals also serve as important reference examples for actual patients and their families, providing them with support and strength.
