音樂劇是一個結合多元領域的藝術綜合體，從劇本創作，音樂，舞台、戲劇、舞台設計、燈光設計、服裝設計等等，包羅萬象。在觀賞一齣音樂劇的時間內，可以看到不同領域的藝術之技術相輔相成的搭配，設計者在這之間的巧思，將完成品最直接的呈現給觀眾，相較於電影，音樂劇整體的設計以及演出過程，不管是技術方面、演員都要求一氣呵成完成作品。而第一時間能感動接觸到觀眾的藝術傳達媒介，就是劇中的演員，就如同電影一樣。劇中的角色賦予演員其角色的形象與個性，而演員將劇本裡的角色，在觀眾的面前詮釋演出。
音樂劇與電影中最大的差別在於，音樂劇或戲劇演員，是跟觀眾在同一個空間，觀眾是直接在現場感受到劇中角色的存在，而因為角色的存在，舞台上的環境以及所有的設計、道具、燈光技術等等，才存在著意義。《西貢小姐》是一齣建立在真實歷史上的故事，觀眾對於眼前演員的表演，成立或認定演員詮釋之角色在此戲劇裡的真實性以前，除了許多舞台、氛圍、音樂等等的協助以外，一個演員的角色建立功課也是非常重要的，而對於音樂劇演員來說，除了演戲以外、演唱、舞蹈都是非常重要的，尤其《西貢小姐》是完全音樂表現劇情的音樂劇，所以角色本身的詮釋與歌唱詮釋與《西貢小姐》音樂結構的編排是密不可分的。這次筆者所撰寫的研究報告為《西貢小姐》女主角金（Kim）的角色詮釋。

Musical is a combination of very diverse areas of art, from script writing, music, stage, drama, stage design, light design, costume design, etc. While watching a musical, you can see the different areas of art, complement each other with the help of technology, all designers work together to build a world on stage so that the audience can enjoy the spectacle. Compared to the film industry, the overall design and process of the musical is totally different, whether it is the technical aspect, or the fact that actors are required to complete the work in one go. And the first and main aspect to reach the audience of the musical, are the actors in the play, just like in the movies. The actors playing their roles are up to give their soul, and try to play the script to build new characters and life on stage to show the audience. The biggest difference with the film is that the musical or theater actors are in the same space with the audience, the audience is directly in contact with the actors on stage so they can feel the emotions right away, also a big help are the stage design, lightning, music and all combined what transforms the stage to a world the audience can enjoy. "Miss Saigon" is a drama created on historical fact, the audience can see the history of what really happened before in a live action on stage, in addition to the stage atmosphere, music and the role of an actor is very important to build this world from the past as we know it. In a musical the actors abilities to act, sing and dance are very important, in particular, "Miss Saigon" is a completely musical performance drama, so the interpretation of the role itself and singing interpretation are inextricably bonded together. The thesis written by the graduate student is the role interpretation of Kim in the musical "Miss Saigon".
